Crucifix with Christ and Baroque Stylized Cross, Carved in Val Gardena Wood

Hand‑carved in the Val Gardena tradition, this Crucifix portrays the Passion with realistic anatomical detail and a reverent expression. The polychrome finish highlights strained musculature, vivid wounds and blood, and the crown of thorns on the tilted head.

The draped loincloth is painted with tones recalling gold leaf, set against the sober elegance of the cross. The cross ends feature a trilobed motif with Baroque influence, adding a restrained sense of sacredness to the piece.

Each crucifix is hand‑painted and unique, with finish options from natural to gold leaf. Made from fine maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm and carved in sturdy linden for sizes 60 cm and above, it is an enduring symbol of faith and South Tyrolean craftsmanship.
