Carved Wooden Statue of Saint Mary Magdalene - Val Gardena Craftsmanship

Hand-carved and painted in the Val Gardena tradition, this figure of Saint Mary Magdalene captures a moment of quiet contemplation — upright posture, inclined head and a focused gaze on the vase she holds. The work reflects the precision of our master carvers and a centuries-old finishing technique.

The scarlet mantle is edged with painted gold that mimics antique burnished metal; meticulous shading defines the flowing drapery and the patination of the amphora, an essential iconographic symbol. The statue is suitable for altars or private prayer corners.

Each piece is unique. For sizes up to 56 cm the statue is carved from maple for finer detail; larger sizes (from 60 cm upwards) are in linden wood for greater stability and expression in larger formats.
