Wood Sculpture Saint Matilda, Queen and Founder, Val Gardena

Hand‑carved in the Val Gardena tradition, this Saint Matilda sculpture shows the holy queen standing in a contemplative pose, her robes expertly draped to give volume and movement.

The polychromy features a deep burgundy mantle against a cream dress, highlighted with lavish gold finishes; the crown and robe edges are finished with patinated gold leaf. Her expression is serene and regal, holding a model church in her left hand and a book topped by a sphere of power in her right.

Every detail is chased to reflect piety and regality. Made to order in a range of sizes for sacred or domestic settings: precious maple for sizes up to 56 cm, and sturdy linden for larger figures, ensuring definition and durability.
