St. Pancras Statue in Carved Wood, Val Gardena

This sculpture of Saint Pancras combines a dynamic pose with a serene expression. He wears a dark red cloak with gold-edged trim over a light beige-brown tunic, belted at the waist with a ribbon bearing a gold star. The right hand points with the index finger raised, while the left holds an open book with finely painted Latin inscriptions.

Every detail — from the realistic folds of the drapery to the carved sandals — is executed by sculptors and painters from Val Gardena, working within a centuries-old tradition of wood carving.

Available in sizes up to 200 cm, the statue is carved from precious maple wood for pieces up to 56 cm (for fine detail) and from robust linden wood for larger, more stable versions.
