Born in a royal family, Giles wanted to avoid his growing popularity and tried to live alone in solitary. Once living in a forest in Nimes on a vegetarian diet, he was found by anarchist king Wamba, whose troops accidentally crippled him with an arrow. Giles humbly refused all honors promised to him by the King, and later became known as one of the 14 Holy Helpers.
