Saint Peter Nolasco received a vision from the Virgin Mary, also spreading to his confessor St. Raymond and King James, asking for the redemption of captives. After obeying her, she appeared again desiring a religious Order in the name of her mercy. They became the Order of Mercedarians, later approved by Pope Gregory IX.
