Crucifix Val Gardena Wooden Sculpture – Hand-Painted Christ

A finely carved Crucifix depicting the Passion with expressive realism: the head is reclined, eyes closed, and facial features convey deep suffering. Anatomical details are precise, including visible ribs and carefully modelled drapery in a reddish‑bluish loincloth.

The Corpus is hand-painted: a pale flesh tone interrupted by reddish-brown accents to indicate wounds from the crown of thorns, nails and the spear. A gilded scroll bearing the inscription INRI provides a point of light and solemnity.

Made in the Val Gardena sculptural tradition, the cross is natural wood with visible grain and supports a Corpus carved from quality woods — maple for sizes up to 56 cm, and linden for larger or monumental dimensions, offering greater stability and lightness.
