This handcrafted Saint Paul the Apostle sculpture from Val Gardena is carved in a dynamic pose, gaze lifted to the sky. He holds a sword, symbolising his martyrdom by beheading and the "sword of the Spirit" — the Word of God.
The vestments are finished in rich polychromy: a reddish-brown tunic with a majestic cloak featuring dark green panels and a bright gold finish suggesting the use of gold leaf. Details such as a thick curly beard and bare feet on a rocky base underline the sculptors' skill and sense of movement in the wood.
Available in sizes from 15 cm to 200 cm: maple for sizes up to 56 cm and linden for larger sizes. Also offered in a natural wood finish and three shades of brown.
