Saint Paul Apostle Wooden Statue - Val Gardena Handicrafts

This sculpture of Saint Paul the Apostle is handcrafted in Val Gardena by Dolfi. The figure is carved in a dynamic pose with his gaze raised to the sky and holds a sword — symbolising his martyrdom by beheading and the "sword of the Spirit," the Word of God.

Available in sizes from 15 cm to 200 cm: pieces up to 56 cm are carved in maple, larger sizes in linden. It is offered in a natural wood finish and in three shades of brown.

Rich polychromy enhances the modelling: a reddish-brown tunic and a majestic cloak with dark green sections and a bright gold finish suggesting gold leaf. Fine details include a thick curly beard and bare feet on a rocky base, reflecting careful hand carving.
