Saint Ottilia Hand-Carved Wood Statue | Val Gardena

The sculpture of Saint Ottilia presents a glossy teal-blue main garment wrapped in a golden cloak that imitates gold leaf; the serene, contemplative face with delicate, downcast features complements the fluid drapery.

Carved by Val Gardena sculptors, the piece includes a finely worked crown and a richly detailed golden chalice. The polychromy is hand-painted to emphasise contrasts such as the salmon-orange undergarment and the dark-green palm.

For sizes up to 56 cm the statue is carved in maple wood to preserve minute detail; larger sizes are carved in linden wood for lightness and stability. Available finishes: Coloured (C), Natural (N) and Three shades of brown (3G).
