Saint Valdetrude with Book in Wood – Artisanal Sculpture from Val Gardena

The statue of Saint Waldetrudis stands in a serene, contemplative pose, clad in a warm brown habit with a white veil and head slightly bowed. Every fold of the tunic and mantle is carefully modelled, finished with a white rope belt and a dangling rosary.

Polished gold accents highlight the pastoral staff and a semi-gloss pictorial finish enhances the sculpture's three-dimensional presence; the face is painted with delicate nuances to convey a sweet, meditative expression.

Hand-carved in the Val Gardena tradition: models up to 56 cm are carved from maple for fine detail, while larger pieces from 60 cm are in linden for stability and scale. The oil colouring applied by our master painters completes the artisanal finish.
